Teen stabbed in Berkeley, assailants flee on scooters
The victim told police he had been stabbed near the shoulder and could not feel his hand, according to emergency dispatches.

A 17-year-old boy was stabbed Wednesday night on his way home from a workout in southwest Berkeley, according to preliminary reports.
The teenager was walking home from the gym on San Pablo Avenue when two other teenagers — both strangers — confronted him and stabbed him, according to emergency dispatches.
The assailants, who may have worn masks and fled on scooters, were described as Black, 15 or 16 years old, 5 foot 3 and 5 foot 5, with heavy builds.
They fled southbound on Mabel Street, Berkeley police said.

The incident took place at about 9:05 p.m. at Haskell and Mabel streets across from the Haskell-Mabel Mini Park.
The victim told police he had been stabbed near the shoulder and could not feel his hand, according to emergency dispatches.
Police responded quickly and applied a tourniquet to the wound.
The Berkeley Fire Department rushed the teenager to Highland Hospital, the area trauma center, for treatment.
Police flooded the area, working to find surveillance footage and search for the assailants.
According to initial reports, the incident was classified as an assault with a deadly weapon and did not involve robbery or other crimes.
As of Thursday, the investigation was ongoing.
