Getting back from a break is never easy, but we've hit the ground running. There is a lot to catch up on but we've made at least a dent.

  • We've just announced a new "guest essay" section to share your stories and perspectives — starting with a response to the homeless camp across from Berkeley High. You won't be surprised to hear it's generating conversation.

Homeless camp poses ‘clear and present danger’ to BHS: Op-ed
“Unhoused people deserve to be treated with dignity and care, and children deserve to be safe,” the authors say: Both are true.
Looking Glass fans rally behind shop after ‘violent break-in’
“Even in this dark moment, we have felt the light of our community,” the shop wrote. Supporters have already donated more than $50,000.
Authorities to release ‘recent results’ in Berkeley cold case
Maria Jane Weidhofer was raped and strangled while jogging on the Nimitz trail in 1990, police said previously. She was just 32.
