One story and several updates for you to end the week.

As usual, we'll be on duty through the weekend monitoring for serious incidents (and catching up on email!).

First: A man with a gun struck a Berkeley Hills resident in the head during a robbery Friday morning, authorities report.

We have just published the names of two women who died tragically in Berkeley since mid-December. There's a GoFundMe underway for one of them.

Her death does not appear to have been suspicious.
UPDATE: Berkeley train fatality ID’d as Michell Contreras
The coroner’s office identified the woman as Michell Montiel Contreras, 33. A GoFundMe has raised more than $5,000 as of Jan. 31.

BPD did make an arrest Thursday after the Berkeley High student's report about being inappropriately touched by someone at Civic Center Park. We have an update in the works about that and related issues. Stay tuned.

Also, the Cal student who was seriously injured after falling off his electric skateboard this week remains in critical condition. We'll keep checking on him.

The teenager, who was not wearing a helmet, was riding an electric skateboard when he fell, police said. This story has been updated.

Finally, there's a flood watch in effect in Berkeley through Sunday, Feb. 2, according to the National Weather Service. See details about the Bay Area weather forecast via the NWS.
