Alameda County DA search: All 15 applications are now public

The applications for all 15 people who hope to become Alameda County's next district attorney, following the recall of Pamela Price, have just become public.
The county posted the nearly 300-page packet containing each of the applications on its website Tuesday afternoon.
Over the next month, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors is expected to hold a series of meetings to decide who will be the next DA.
The county has said the process will be transparent, with everything from candidate interviews to the final selection taking place in public.
The names of the 15 candidates vying for the new DA job became public Monday.

Seven of the candidates have deep ties to the Alameda County district attorney's office as current or former prosecutors: Annie Esposito, Amilcar "Butch" Ford, Venus Johnson, Ursula Jones Dickson (now a judge), LaTricia (L.D.) Louis (now deputy county counsel for Alameda County), Elgin Lowe and Jimmie Wilson.
Two of the candidates, Simona Farrise Best and Kwixuan Maloof, came into the Alameda County DA's office in January 2023 as part of Pamela Price's transition team.
Other candidates on the list are Deputy Attorney General Arvon Perteet with the state Department of Justice, Alameda City Attorney Yiben Shen, Ian Seth Steward (a former prosecutor with the San Francisco DA's office and chief of staff for former Oakland Councilman Dan Kalb), former Fresno County prosecutor Miiko Anderson, retired Santa Clara prosecutor Scott Tsui and labor relations attorney Ocean Mottley.
What is the schedule for the Alameda County DA search?
In Tuesday's Board of Supervisors meeting, County Administrator Susan Muranishi shared new details about how the DA appointment process will now unfold.
All the interviews and the final decision will take place at public meetings in the coming weeks. There will be time for public comment each step of the way.
On Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m., the board will decide which applicants to interview.
On Tuesday, Jan. 21, at 1:30 p.m., the board will hold public interviews of the final candidates.
On Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 3 p.m., the board will deliberate and select a candidate.
Finally, on Feb. 4, the board will formally appoint the new district attorney for Alameda County.
Alameda County Board of Supervisors meetings take place at the County Administration Building at 1221 Oak St. in Oakland in the Supervisors’ Chambers on the fifth floor.
