Berkeley police recovered an AR-15-style rifle during a suspected DUI arrest in the Elmwood neighborhood over the weekend, authorities report.

Someone called Berkeley police around 10:20 p.m. Saturday for a driver who appeared to have fallen asleep in his car in the middle of the street, authorities said.

When officers arrived, they found 48-year-old Robbie Kincaid, a Berkeley resident, reclined in his Honda Accord at Piedmont and Ashby avenues, BPD said.

A search of the car turned up the AR-15-style rifle, which was reportedly concealed and loaded, police said.

Officers ultimately arrested Kincaid on suspicion of DUI, being a felon in possession of a firearm, illegally possessing an assault weapon and several other related crimes, according to jail records.

He remains in custody with a bail of $280,000 and is scheduled for arraignment Thursday, records show.
