Berkeley neighborhood sees 2 rounds of gunfire in 10 hours
No one was injured. Investigations are underway.
Police investigated two incidents of gunfire near Adeline and Fairview streets in South Berkeley on Thursday.
No one was hurt in either shooting and the investigations are ongoing.
The first reports came in Thursday shortly after midnight near Harper and Woolsey streets but police found no victims or evidence of gunfire when they arrived in the area.
Then, at about 9:50 a.m., Berkeley police began receiving calls about gunfire about one block south, ultimately finding at least one casing on Adeline south of Fairview Street.
"Witnesses reported seeing a man with a face covering and dark clothing running away from the area after the shooting," police said in response to a Scanner inquiry.
There have been two serious shootings in the same vicinity this year.
One, in August, killed 52-year-old Corey Waters. The other, in March, resulted in a man being shot in the back but surviving.
Berkeley has now had 25 shootings in 2024 leaving three dead and seven wounded.
There had been 34 shootings at this time last year, wounding seven people.
