Notable public safety items on the consent calendar include a nearly $1 million contract for the Sacramento Street Pedestrian Safety Project and proposed updates to parking ticket fines following changes in state law that make it illegal to park within 20 feet of corners even if there's no red curb.
Also: We had some questions today about a helicopter that was circling Berkeley before noon.
