Another armed carjacking on Gilman Street in Berkeley
Berkeley police said three people, each carrying a gun, approached the victim and took their car, a metallic Dodge Charger.
Berkeley police are investigating another armed carjacking on Gilman Street on Wednesday night.
The incident happened shortly after 8 p.m. in the 400 block of Gilman Street near the Tom Bates Regional Sports Complex.
Berkeley police said three people, each carrying a gun, approached the victim and took their car, a metallic Dodge Charger.
According to preliminary reports, the men hit the Dodge with their white Toyota Camry and then carjacked the driver.
It's the third carjacking in Berkeley in the past week.
Last week Wednesday, Oct. 23, a blue Kia Sportage was taken during a carjacking in the 1500 block of Keoncrest Drive in North Berkeley at 5:40 a.m.
The next day, Oct. 24, five people pulled up next to someone in the 600 block of Gilman Street in northwest Berkeley, brandished a gun and took their gray Infiniti G37 shortly before 6 a.m.
Around the same time, there was also a report of a carjacking attempt at the North Berkeley BART station, but the victim was able to get away and call police from a safe location, according to emergency dispatches reviewed by The Scanner.
Aside from the three carjacking reports and the single attempt over the past week, there have been only six other carjackings reported in Berkeley this entire year, according to BPD data.
