Body found in Berkeley Hills ravine near Codornices Park

Original story: A group of high school students spotted a man's body in a ravine near Codornices Park in the Berkeley Hills on Monday afternoon.
Berkeley firefighters recovered the body from a ravine not far from the park's popular playground area, according to emergency dispatches reviewed by The Scanner.
The Berkeley Fire Department initially received a call at about 3 p.m. about a possible medical emergency at the park, according to the dispatch audio.
Firefighters quickly determined that it was a coroner's case requiring a body recovery from a ravine down the hill from Tamalpais Road.
According to preliminary reports, there were signs of a homeless camp in the area where the body was found.
There were no initial indications that the death was suspicious but the Alameda County coroner's office is responding and the investigation is ongoing.
It's not the first time this year that a body has been recovered from a Berkeley Hills creek.
In April, a man's body was found in a ravine near Arlington Avenue, about 2 miles from Codornices Park.
