Gunfire prompts lockdown near UC Berkeley Clark Kerr Campus
Campus officials advised "community members in the area to continue to exercise caution" even though the lockdown ended.
A report of gunfire near UC Berkeley's Clark Kerr Track and Hillside Campus prompted a manhunt and lockdown Thursday, authorities said.
In the end, police reported no injuries or arrests and said, as of about 1:40 p.m., there was "no longer a known threat to UC Berkeley campus locations."
"The lockdown has been lifted for all campus areas," UC Berkeley said in a prepared statement.
The incident began Thursday at 7:40 a.m. when "police responded to a report of two shots fired near UC Berkeley’s Clark Kerr Track." The campus ShotSpotter system picked up the noise.
"Multiple police agencies have conducted an exhaustive search of the area and expended all resources available, but the suspect has not been apprehended," UC Berkeley said Thursday afternoon.

The police investigation is ongoing.
Authorities described the suspect as a white male in a black shirt and black pants with a red backpack.
"The suspect’s hair is described as 'bleached' with possible red or orange highlights," UC Berkeley said.
