Woman sustains moderate injuries in Berkeley DV stabbing
A woman in her 40s was wounded during an incident of domestic violence, Berkeley police said in a prepared statement.
A domestic violence suspect was arrested Wednesday in Berkeley on suspicion of stabbing a woman, causing moderate injuries, police said.
Shortly before 4 p.m., Berkeley police officers were dispatched to King and 63rd streets to help a woman who had been stabbed.
Arriving officers found a woman in her 40s who had been wounded during an incident of domestic violence, Berkeley police said in a prepared statement.
Police and firefighters attended to the woman as other officers searched for the suspect, BPD said.

Officers found the man minutes later a few blocks away at Adeline and Fairview streets, police said. He was arrested without incident.
During the investigation, police also recovered a pocket knife believed to have been used in the stabbing.
The woman was taken to a local trauma center and the man was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon, police said.
No information was available about the man as of publication time because he has not been booked, police said.

Update, June 13: The arrested man was identified as 62-year-old Dwight Whitner of Oakland, police said.
He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and domestic violence in addition to a separate warrant related to DUI and other allegations, according to booking records.
Whitner is being held without bail and is set for arraignment Friday at Wiley Manuel Courthouse in Oakland, according to records online.
His booking photograph, which became available Thursday, has also been added to the story.
