Police investigate shooting on Berkeley-Oakland border

Police are checking with area hospitals to see if anyone has come in with a gunshot wound.

Police are investigating a shooting on the Berkeley-Oakland border on Monday evening.

Reports are preliminary, but police began getting reports of people who may have been shooting at each other from two vehicles at about 6:20 p.m. in the area of 62nd and Adeline streets.

Authorities said over the radio that the shooting may have taken place on the Oakland side of the border.

Police reportedly found three vehicles that had been struck by gunfire: one near 61st and Adeline streets and two on Essex and Tremont streets in Berkeley.

As of just after 6:40 p.m., Berkeley police had three people detained on Tremont Street.

Police were checking with local hospitals to see if anyone had come in with a gunshot wound.

As of about 6:45 p.m., Berkeley police were turning over the scene to the Oakland Police Department.
