TBS Today, May 2
Today we have some great news to share about a national award as well as an update on a 2021 robbery case we've been following for years.
Also this week, we were invited to speak on a panel in July before the California Journalism Awards gala hosted by the California News Publishers Association.
It's very exciting to be getting so much recognition and we look forward to sharing more good news as it happens.
We also checked with BFD and BUSD about a report of a fire at Berkeley High yesterday in which students and staff were told to "evacuate campus" shortly before the school day ended.
Turns out it was just a minor event. BFD said there was a dryer fire in a laundry room that was "extinguished by sprinkler head activation." No one was hurt.
The principal ultimately sent an email update to parents about the incident.
We're happy to chase down news tips when we can, even when it does not turn into a story.
