Man shot in South Berkeley on Thursday night
According to emergency radio traffic reviewed by The Scanner, the man had been shot in the back.
A man was shot on Thursday night in Berkeley in the eighth shooting of the year.
He was the third person wounded by gunfire in Berkeley in 2024.
Shootings are up significantly compared to last year's numbers.
Last year at this time, there had been three shooting investigations with only one person wounded.
On Thursday night, Berkeley police got multiple reports of gunfire in the area of Fairview and Harper streets at about 7:25 p.m.
A short time later, an individual "showed up at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound," BPD said.
According to emergency radio traffic reviewed by The Scanner, the man had been shot in the back.
After he went to Alta Bates Hospital, the Berkeley Fire Department rushed him to Highland Hospital, the regional trauma center, for treatment.
Police have not released the victim's age or city of residence, or any other information about the case.
BPD said the investigation is ongoing and that "details could change pending further information."
