News brief: Man's body found in Berkeley Marina

Authorities are investigating the discovery of a body in the Berkeley Marina over the weekend.

Berkeley police said a passerby saw the man's body on the rocks near Seawall Drive on Saturday shortly before 7:30 a.m.

BPD said the death did not immediately appear suspicious.

The Alameda County coroner's office responded to the scene to remove the body.

As of Monday afternoon, the man's name was unavailable because his next of kin had not been found, the coroner's office said.

BPD said the man was in his 50s.
